Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins does not want to return to game action until he is 100 percent, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins wants to be ‘100 percent’ before playing, per report, fantasy value remains dormant
The second-year tight end has missed 12 of a possible 23 games since his professional career began. We break down the fantasy implications.
Seferian-Jenkins continues to recover from a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined for the past seven weeks. The second-year tight end returned to practice in preparation for Week 8, but was ultimately listed as doubtful and did not play. Though Seferian-Jenkins returned at a limited capacity on Wednesday, it doesn’t appear that there is any urgency to get him into the lineup until he is completely healthy.
Via Tampa Bay Times:
“You have to make sure you’re 100 percent. You’ve got to go back out there feeling you can do what you did when you left,” he said. “I don’t want to go out there and not give my teammates what they deserve out of me when I’m out there. They deserve that, the coaches deserve that and the fans deserve that.”
Fantasy impact: Though it's encouraging that Seferian-Jenkins returned to practice, and even though the Buccaneers are desperate for a weapon other than Mike Evans in the receiving game, there isn't yet strong evidence to suggest Seferian-Jenkins suits up for Week 9.
The Giants have allowed a league-high 684 yards to opposing tight ends this season, which presents a prime matchup for the Buccaneers tight end if he manages to get into the lineup. For now, fantasy owners must continue to monitor practice reports, but if Seferian-Jenkins plays, he's a low-end TE1.
