New York Giants running back Orleans Darkwa is practicing Thursday, according to The Record's Art Stapleton.
Orleans Darkwa practices Thursday, presents flex value in deeper fantasy leagues
Orleans Darkwa could give the Giants a much-needed boost in the backfield if he returns from a back injury. We break down the fantasy implications.
Darkwa also practiced on Wednesday, despite being forced to exit Week 8's shootout with the New Orleans Saints due to a back injury. It was later revealed that he is dealing with a severely bruised tailbone, but his participation in practice indicates that there's hope for him to suit up for Week 9's bout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy impact: Darkwa has a chance to lead the Giants in carries if he stays healthy, but to what extent is unknown. There is no hard evidence that the Giants will deviate from using a committee of four running backs instead of one featured runner, although Darkwa began separating from the pack after Week 7's victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
For fantasy owners in need of answers at the running back position, it can’t be concluded that Darkwa is the solution just yet. In Week 9, he presents long-shot value as a flex, but that could quickly change with a strong performance. He should be added in leagues of all formats.
