New York Giants running back Orleans Darkwa is listed as probable on the team's injury report.
Orleans Darkwa listed as probable for Giants, fantasy owners
The Giants’ emerging running back returned to practice and is expected to play on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Darkwa was bounced early from the Giants' shootout with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday after being stuffed on a goal-line attempt. It was later revealed that Darkwa's back injury turned out to be a severely bruised tailbone, although the second-year running back was able to practice this week to prepare for the upcoming Week 9 game.
Fantasy impact: Amid a crowded Giants backfield, Darkwa appeared to have the most momentum after averaging 6.0 yards per carry and rushing for a touchdown in Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys, but being bounced from action in Week 8 put a temporary halt on that. Darkwa is still a candidate to lead the Giants in carries down the stretch, but the extent of his role is unknown with Shane Vereen, Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams still in the mix.
Darkwa can be considered a long-shot flex option for Week 9, since six teams are on bye and no shortage of injuries span the NFL as a whole.
