The hits keep coming for the 2-6 San Diego Chargers, as Keenan Allen's season-ending injury forces them to rethink how to structure their passing game.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 9: Malcom Floyd
The Chargers’ receiving corps is in flux with Keenan Allen being sent to injured reserve. We break down the fantasy implications.
Allen's absence leaves the Chargers without a true No. 1 receiver, but No.1 fantasy production can be had from whoever steps in. That was demonstrated in Week 8 by Malcom Floyd, whose 21 fantasy points were second only to Odell Beckham's three-touchdown outburst. Floyd repeatedly gashed the Ravens' outmatched secondary, catching four passes for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns on six targets.
Fantasy impact: Floyd has a real chance to cash in on touchdowns once again in Week 9 against a Bears defense that has allowed 12 scores to wideouts this season. Just three teams have allowed more than that total, despite the Bears' opposing receivers drawing the second-fewest targets. It's a ridiculously high rate to be allowing touchdowns for any secondary, which indicates the 6'5 Floyd could be in for a big night on Monday.
Floyd remains in the WR3 conversation for Week 9, but expect Allen’s remaining targets to be divvied up evenly among the receiving corps. Even in that instance, Floyd remains on the fantasy radar.
