Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell will remain the team's starting running back when he returns to the lineup, according to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press. Bell remains on the PUP list due to knee and Achilles issues, and missed the team's opening preseason game against the New York Jets last week.
Joique Bell expected to remain starter, fantasy future stable
The Lions’ No. 1 option in the backfield is expected to be back on the field soon. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Bell is expected to be back in action any day now. With former teammate Reggie Bush suiting up for the San Francisco 49ers this season, Bell is the clear go-to running back in the Lions' backfield heading into the regular season. Ameer Abdullah is coming off a big preseason opener, but Bell has the most significant experience in the backfield.
Theo Riddick will be Bell's running mate and does possess some upside should Bell continue to be banged up once the season wears on. At the moment, Abdullah and Zach Zenner have been impressive in the preseason, but remain clear backups to Bell and Riddick for now.
Fantasy owners need not worry about this particular health issue once Week 1 rolls around. Whether Bell can remain healthy otherwise remains to be seen.
