New Orleans Saints running back C.J. Spiller had his knee scoped two weeks ago, but it should not create a long-term issue. Spiller is expected to be ready for the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN’s Britt McHenry. Spiller is not expected to play in the preseason.
C.J. Spiller expected back for Week 1, fantasy value unchanged
Saints running back C.J. Spiller is expected to be back in time for the regular season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Spiller has not practiced with the team in over a week now. He’s instead been studying the playbook and undergoing mental preparation in time for opening day kickoff. With teammates Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson having a firm hold on the top two running back holes on the roster, Spiller will likely spend most of the season as a change-of-pace back and contribute in the return game as well.
The five-year veteran averaged 3.8 yards per carry with the Buffalo Bills last season, but appeared in just nine games due to injury. Fantasy owners can feel free to draft Spiller as they normally would, although his value even in deep leagues will only spike should the Saints be forced to deal with injuries throughout the season.
