New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is unlikely to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the team's second game of the preseason due to a calf injury, according to New Jersey Advanced Media's Jordan Raanan. There's a chance Cruz may play in the final game of the exhibition schedule as a tune-up to the regular season.
Victor Cruz likely out against Jaguars, fantasy return on the horizon
Giants’ wide receiver Victor Cruz is unlikely to play in the team’s second preseason game. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Cruz’s biggest concern right now is not his calf, it’s his right knee. He’s coming off a torn patellar tendon suffered in Week 6 last season that saw him carted off the field in excruciating pain.
Cruz’s absence last year opened the door for Odell Beckham Jr. to strut his stuff and become the team’s top receiver, so Cruz will now find himself second in the team’s pecking order for targets in the passing game. He’s a proven commodity yet Cruz finds himself in the position of having to prove himself all over again this year.
Fantasy owners will be intrigued to see what Cruz does come regular season, but for now, the Giants have no reason to rush him in exhibition play. Once the season starts, he could provide excellent value in 2015.
