Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta will not come back for at least the first six games of the season and not even his close friend and quarterback Joe Flacco knows if or when he’ll return from hip surgery, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. Pitta has only appeared in two games since the 2013 season.
Dennis Pitta out long-term, fantasy future up in the air
Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta isn’t coming back anytime soon. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Hip injuries can be career ending in a physical game like football. Pitta is now two surgeries deep and it looks like his hip won’t be deemed healthy for a while. At this point, he may never play again. Even if he does, his best days are likely behind him.
That said, while his long-term future is yet to be decided on, what’s guaranteed is that Pitta will miss the first six games of the regular season given that he is on the physically unable to perform list. In his absence, Maxx Williams and Crockett Gilmore will share the tight end duties for Baltimore, with Williams ranking one slot higher on the depth chart.
Fantasy owners can probably add either option via the waiver wire as there are many tight ends worth drafting before anyone on the Ravens.
