Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins has really impressed people in training camp. So much so that he has been labeled the team’s August MVP, according to The Buffalo News’ Tyler Dunne. Watkins has a single catch for a 6-yard gain in the preseason.
Sammy Watkins labeled August MVP, fantasy value rising
Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been very impressive in training camp. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Watkins has been looking absolutely fantastic throughout training camp, having fully recovered from off-season hip surgery. He’s clearly demonstrating that he can create separation between himself and his defender.
Naturally, the Bills don’t want to expose the team’s best player to unnecessary knocks and bumps in games that don’t really matter.
The fact that Watkins only has one catch in game action is not a big deal. The only thing that limits his fantasy value is the team’s play at quarterback. Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and E.J. Manuel aren’t exactly regarded as premier quarterbacks in the NFL.
Fantasy owners should certainly draft Watkins as a top wide receiver, but he won’t get to the elite level without at least some help from whoever is under center.
