Oakland Raiders running back Roy Helu has really made a great impression on quarterback Derek Carr, according to ESPN’s Bill Williamson. Helu hasn’t seen game action in the preseason to this point.
Roy Helu making a good impression in training camp, fantasy value still low
Raiders running back Roy Helu has really impressed his quarterback. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Depending on who you ask, over the last number of years Oakland has been the place where the careers of running backs go to die. But that doesn’t mean both Helu and teammate Latavius Murray don’t have some fantasy value.
Both running backs are solid pass catchers, adding PPR value. Considering the Raiders will likely be playing from behind a lot throughout the season, they could be worth an occasional sport start in PPR leagues.
However, make no mistake about it, Helu was signed by the team to be a third down running back and it will be Murray who get’s the lion’s share of touches for the silver and black.
Fantasy owners could consider Helu a high upside play, should something happen to Murray. However, any hope of Helu producing consistent weekly results is likely to lead owners to disappointment.
