Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is still recovering from a hamstring injury but coach Rex Ryan remains “cautiously optimistic” that he will be able to play in Week 1, according to the team’s official Twitter account. Boobie Dixon and Bryce Brown would see more action should McCoy sit out.
LeSean McCoy could return Week 1, fantasy status up in the air
The Bills are hoping running back LeSean McCoy can play in the team’s first game of the regular season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: McCoy is definitely near the tail end of his prime years. He can’t cut as quickly as he used to and simply isn’t as electric. A nagging hamstring injury is something that can affect a rusher for the entire season. At the same time, there is little in the way of competition in Buffalo as long as he’s able to play.
Fantasy owners should still consider drafting McCoy in the latter part of the first round, but his fantasy production going forward should prove volatile and decrease in the coming years. On the bright side, he will probably get a lot of opportunities to catch passes out of the backfield thanks to quarterbacks who lack talent and will likely have to throw short to move the chains.
