The Steelers got an unlikely performance out of the second-oldest running back in the NFL during a Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots. We break down the fantasy implications.

Despite Bell’s absence, the Steelers maintained a balanced attack on offense, calling Williams’ number early and often. Williams finished the evening with 21 carries for 127 yards and added a five-yard catch. The 32-year-old dropped his weight down to 215 pounds during the offseason—and it showed—as he repeatedly beat defenders around the edge to the surprise of his doubters.
Fantasy Spin: Despite Williams' proficiency between the 20s, he was vultured for goal-line carries by fullback Will Johnson, which prevented a huge fantasy output. Though it was an overall tremendous performance for the veteran, it is not one that will lead to an extended role upon Bell's return.
In the meantime, it's good for fantasy owners to know that production can be had in the Steelers backfield without their starter in the mix. Williams will be a middling RB2 option versus the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.
