Fantasy owners who drafted Alfred Blue in the mid-rounds of drafts expected a steal. Even if he's a "rental" for when Arian Foster is sidelined, a great deal of volume is coming his way in the meantime.

With Arian Foster out, the Texans will look to his young backup for production in Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.
There's certainly precedent for this, as Blue relieved Foster in 2014 due to injury, and responded with a 36-carry, 156-yard outing versus the Cleveland Browns. However, caution has to be exercised, since Chris Polk adds capable depth in the backfield in 2015 and ought to be mixed in as well. Despite the heavy volume that came Blue's way in 2014, he averaged a dismal 3.1 yards per carry, and may not have as firm a grasp on starting duties as fantasy owners believe at this time.
Fantasy Spin: Although Blue's matchup gets a boost for Week 1 versus a Kansas City Chiefs defense that may not have Dontari Poe at 100 percent, fantasy owners hopefully have better options at hand to begin the season.
Blue’s woeful history of inefficiency should not instill much confidence in his fantasy owners, and should be treated as a touchdown-dependent flex option in standard formats.
