Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas still has a ways to go before taking the field, but encouraging news emerged Wednesday regarding his status.
Julius Thomas does individual drills Wednesday, remains on fantasy benches for Week 2
The Jaguars received some good news about their tight end on Wednesday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Per Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Thomas has been cleared for individual drills and participated with his cast on during Wednesday’s practice. It was initially hoped that Thomas’ hand injury would not keep him out of action past Week 4, and though there’s still much to be overcome, Thomas doing work at this time is an encouraging sign.
Fantasy Spin: Fantasy owners who drafted Thomas knew they would have to be patient because of his injury, so having to stash him for another week or two shouldn't be considered an inconvenience. If he returns at his expected date, it's worth mentioning that the Jaguars have their first divisional matchup in Week 4 vs. the Indianapolis Colts, and it happens to be a favorable one for Thomas. The former Denver Broncos tight end will garner high-end TE2 status upon his return, and has considerable upside.
But for now, Thomas has to be stowed away on fantasy benches across the board. Marcedes Lewis and Clay Harbor will continue to share snaps in Thomas' absence, but neither is on the fantasy radar.
