Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson didn't get off to the hot start that his fantasy owners expected after investing a first-round pick in the feature back.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: C.J. Anderson
It was slow goings out of the gate for the Denver Broncos’ feature back in Week 1. Is there a rebound in store for Week 2? We break down the fantasy implications.
In fact, toe and ankle injuries prevented him from true feature-back duties, as he finished with an even split with Ronnie Hillman, each carrying the ball 12 times. Hillman outgained Anderson 41-29, although Anderson also added four catches for 19 yards to boost his PPR numbers.
Fantasy Spin: It was a disappointing outing for Anderson, but it appears that his injury won't keep him out of game action, even during a short week. Anderson returned to practice on Tuesday, and will once again get the nod versus an imposing Kansas City Chiefs defense, which shouldn't come as a surprise with the Broncos' first divisional game on the horizon.
Though fantasy owners are clearly not happy with Anderson’s debut, the panic button should be far out of reach as he gets acclimated to the season. One bad week is hardly a reason to bench one of the best runners in the league, and fantasy owners can be content with penning him as a mid-to-low range RB1 for Week 2.
