New York Jets running back Chris Ivory has been dealing with a groin injury that he sustained in practice.
Chris Ivory dealing with groin injury, should play for Jets, fantasy owners Monday night
The Jets’ feature back has been hampered in practice, but it doesn’t appear to threaten his Week 2 status. We break down the fantasy implications.
Ivory popped up on Thursday's injury report as "limited," but ESPN's Rick Cimini reports that head coach Todd Bowles isn't worried about Ivory's availability for Sunday. He will be expected to man the backfield while being occasionally spelled by Bilal Powell.
Fantasy Spin: Ivory distinguished himself as a feature back in Week 1 after uncertainty surrounded the Jets’ distribution of carries and snaps in their backfield. Though mid-week injuries are never welcome news for fantasy owners, Ivory should still receive a workload that puts him squarely in the RB2 range if Bowles remains unconcerned over his injury.
It’s not an ideal scenario for fantasy owners to have to wait until Monday night for a confirmation of Ivory’s availability, but for now, it appears safe to start him. Cautious owners can pick up Powell off the waiver wire if they want to play it safe.
