Washington running backs Matt Jones and Alfred Morris are expected to form a “physical tandem” in the team’s backfield, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post. Both running backs have impressed coach Jay Gruden this summer.
Matt Jones, Alfred Morris impressive in camp, making for interesting fantasy future
Washington running backs Matt Jones and Alfred Morris have both been solid in the preseason. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Of the two running backs, Jones has been the more productive, averaging a whopping seven yards per carry, albeit with a much higher workload than Morris. Morris is getting plenty of rest ahead of the start of the regular season.
Jones has an aggressive running style and hits holes hard. So far he’s rushed the ball 20 times for 139 yards and a touchdown. It’s a small but meaningful sample size in exhibition play. That said, Jones’ training camp play isn’t likely to take the starting job away from Morris.
Fantasy owners should be aware that Jones’ main job will be to serve as a complement to Morris throughout the season. Unless Morris goes down with an injury or misses a few games, the more experienced running back is still the one to draft and hold at this time.
