Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor was expected by many to burst onto the scene, after drawing glimmering reviews from camp and being a difference maker on the field in preseason action.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: Nelson Agholor
The Eagles rookie was expected to make a splash when he made his NFL debut on Monday night. Is a bounce-back bound to happen in Week 2? We break down the fantasy implications.
However, his first NFL game didn't coincide with that -- the rookie was targeted just twice in Monday night's 26-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, catching one pass for 5 yards. Despite that, Agholor played 80 percent of the Eagles' snaps, as they went pass-heavy after trailing, 20-3, at halftime.
Fantasy Spin: Agholor’s two targets are a bit troubling when put into the context of Sam Bradford’s 52 attempted passes that night. Two targets of 52 is minuscule, and it’s not comforting for Agholor’s fantasy owners to see that eight other Eagles were targeted more frequently in the passing game.
The Eagles didn't draft Agholor in the first round to have him run decoy routes, but he could still be weeks away from seeing significant targets. In the meantime, fantasy owners can't be faulted for benching Agholor for Week 2 vs. the Dallas Cowboys, and perhaps even beyond.
