Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman is expected to miss "a couple of weeks" due to a fractured rib, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Falcons will be without their starting running back for a few games due to a rib injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

Coleman was carted off the field on Sunday against the New York Giants and Devonta Freeman finished the game as the primary back. The Falcons had favored the rookie to Freeman prior to the injury. Coleman outcarried Freeman, 20-10, in his NFL debut, and had nine carries for 32 yards and a touchdown before being removed from the Week 2 game.
Fantasy impact: Schefter added that Coleman’s return will likely be based on pain tolerance, meaning a sooner return could imply that more of a timeshare with Freeman is being put into place in order to keep his pain level under control. Once Coleman returns, he ought to resume his post atop the depth chart, provided Freeman doesn’t run away with the job in his absence.
The backfield situation in Atlanta will have to be reassessed upon Coleman’s return, but for now, Freeman offers decent value as a flex option in fantasy leagues of all formats.
