New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings hasn't taken a stranglehold over his team's starting duties, as Andre Williams and Shane Vereen were both more effective in his stead during Week 2's loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 3: Rashad Jennings
The Giants haven’t gotten much from their lead back so far in 2015. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jennings didn’t garner consideration from his coaches after halftime, losing snaps to both Williams and passing down-back Vereen, and it wasn’t difficult to see why. Jennings gained just 12 yards on nine carries, while Williams led the Giants with 43 yards on just six carries. Shane Vereen touched the ball a total of 14 times for 95 yards.
Fantasy impact: Game flow of Week 2’s loss is partially responsible for Jennings’ lack of looks, but blame can’t be placed entirely on that. Jennings appeared sluggish and ineffective, which paved the way for his counterparts to take over. It would be too bold to say Jennings isn’t still the lead back of this committee, but it remains a committee at that.
Jennings is a dicey flex play for Week 3 against a revitalized Washington defense that has been stingy against the run thus far. Vereen remains the preferred option in the backfield, especially in PPR leagues.
