New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, but it isn't considered serious, according to a report by The Advocate's Nick Underhill.
Brandin Cooks injury not serious, per report, likely to play Sunday for Saints, fantasy owners
Much-needed good news emerged on Thursday regarding the Saints’ No. 1 wide receiver. We break down the fantasy implications.

If there was evidence of Cooks' injury during last Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he did a good job of hiding it. The speedy second-year receiver played through the final drive of the game, even catching a late 21-yard pass in which he displayed the acceleration he's known for.
The Saints will need all hands on deck vs. the Carolina Panthers in Week 3 after starting 0-2 and Drew Brees dealing with a rotator cuff injury.
Fantasy impact: It’s refreshing to know that Cooks’ injury isn’t likely a threat to his status, but the bigger factor is the health of Brees. Cooks’ quarterback reportedly did not throw at Wednesday’s practice, and his yardage total could suffer if the veteran signal caller’s arm strength is far less than what it usually is.
Cooks can be considered a low-end WR2 with a tough matchup and unfortunate circumstances preceding his divisional showdown. With Brees' health in question, the only "safe" pick in the Saints offense this week for fantasy owners appears to be Mark Ingram.
