Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that running back Eddie Lacy will not practice on Thursday, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky.
Eddie Lacy will not practice Thursday, fantasy owners play the waiting game
The Packers will keep their feature back out of action for their first day of practice in preparation for the Chiefs. We break down the fantasy implications.
Lacy injured his ankle in the first quarter of Monday night vs. the Seattle Seahawks and didn't return to game action. It was determined later that Lacy was dealing with a sprain after trainers attempted to tape it up during the game, but the Packers' feature back could not put any weight on it. The sprain is not of the high-ankle variety, which typically keeps players out for multiple weeks.
Fantasy Spin: Normally, if a player misses practice on Thursday, fantasy owners will raise their eyebrows and look for contingency plans. But keep in mind the Packers play on Monday night, so their schedule is pushed back a day. Thursday marks the Packers' first practice in preparation for the Kansas City Chiefs, so a rest day isn't abnormal.
Should Lacy start, he should be placed into lineups across the board, however playing on Monday night makes matters murky for fantasy owners. James Starks would get the start if Lacy doesn't go, and should be currently penned into lineups of all Lacy owners at this point of the week.
