Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that he "doesn't have high expectations" for Davante Adams practicing Thursday, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky.
Davante Adams not practicing Thursday, fantasy owners will monitor status
The Packers will rest their No. 2 receiver on Thursday as they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs on a long week. We break down the fantasy implications.
Adams injured his ankle during Sunday night's bout with the Seattle Seahawks, but returned to action later in the game. In an early-season matchup that could yield playoff implications by season's end, it made sense for Packers brass to get Adams back into the game given how paper thin they would be at receiver without him. For now, Adams will get a little bit of extra rest as the Packers don't play until Monday night.
Fantasy impact: Even though it's Thursday, there isn't any concern about the Packers managing the reps of their No. 2 receiver given that their game is a day later than normal. Since Adams returned to game action and didn't suffer any setback on Sunday, it bodes well for his chances of facing a challenging Kansas City Chiefs defense.
Adams hasn't reaped many fantasy football benefits of playing with Aaron Rodgers, but upside will always remain for a player of his caliber amid an explosive offense. Adams can be considered a WR3 for Monday night.
