Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, according to the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson.
DeAndre Hopkins remains in concussion protocol, could still play Sunday for fantasy owners
The Texans’ No. 1 target in the passing game remains sidelined due to a concussion. We break down the fantasy implications.
It's unclear when Hopkins suffered his concussion, given that he did not practice on Wednesday and that he was out on the Texans' final series during Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Head coach Bill O'Brien told Wilson that despite Hopkins' status, he has not been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Spin: Time is running out if Hopkins wants to take the field on Sunday, as it is abnormal for a player to see game action without taking practice reps. There could be an exception made in Hopkins’ situation, given that he is so valuable to the offense as a whole, that he could play without practicing.
Should Hopkins take the field on Friday, fantasy owners ought to consider him probable to suit up. Any time Hopkins is on the field, he is a WR1 in leagues of all formats. If he sits, Nate Washington and Cecil Shorts will pick up the slack, but neither are attractive options to start vs. the Buccaneers.
