Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been ruled out of action on Sunday due to a hamstring injury, the team announced Friday.
Alshon Jeffery ruled out Sunday, fantasy owners’ laments continue
The Bears will have to do without their star receiver for another week. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jeffery dealt with this issue throughout the summer and was ruled out of Week 2's action vs. the Arizona Cardinals after suffering a setback during that week of practice. It's unknown how long Jeffery will miss as a result, but the team did not want to take any chances with their star receiver even in a Week 3 game where they will need all hands on deck vs. the Seattle Seahawks.
Fantasy Spin: Jeffery's short-term fantasy outlook looks grimmer by the minute, considering the lingering nature of hamstring injuries and given how long it's already hindered him. With quarterback Jay Cutler also dealing with a hamstring injury of his own, it's fair to wonder how effective the Bears offense would have been in terms of getting the ball into their No. 1 receiver's hands anyway.
A healthy Jeffery with a healthy Cutler under center normally puts him in the WR1 conversation. But unfortunately, fantasy owners could be weeks away from hearing that declaration. In the meantime, all they can do is stash him until he heals.
