It took three games, but the Philadelphia Eagles got their lethargic running game going during their 24-17 victory over the New York Jets. What's even more surprising is that it sprung to life without starting running back DeMarco Murray in the fold.
‘No idea’ if Ryan Mathews will get bulk of Week 4 carries for Eagles, fantasy owners, per report
The Eagles had some much-needed production out of their backfield on Sunday, and may keep a similar formula going forward. We break down the fantasy implications.

As a result, there appears to be some ambiguity surrounding the roles of each player in the Eagles’ three-headed backfield upon Murray’s return, per the writers of PhiladelphiaEagles.com. Though poor offensive line play can certainly be part of the blame amid Murray’s struggles, it would be hard for any coach to walk away from a working formula.
Ryan Mathews averaged 4.2 yards per carry, which isn't phenomenal, but is worlds better than what the offense was doing with Murray in front of him.
Fantasy impact: It’s hard to envision Murray losing his starting job after two poor weeks and with the salary he commands. It won’t be easy sledding vs. a revitalized Washington run defense on Sunday, but Murray’s potential usage still has him in the RB2 conversation if he plays.
In the event Murray takes the field, both Mathews and Darren Sproles can be considered flex options in leagues of all formats.
