Detroit Lions tight ends Joseph Fauria and Tim Wright are competing for one spot on the team’s roster, according to the Detroit Free Press’ Dave Birkett. Wright was acquired by the team via trade just a few days ago.
Joseph Fauria, Tim Wright battling for one spot, fantasy futures to be decided
Lions tight ends Joseph Fauria and Tim Wright are competing for one remaining spot. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Fauria caught just six passes in seven games for the Lions last year while Wright caught 26 in 16 games with the New England Patriots. It’s hard to say who has the edge in the head-to-head matchup for that last roster spot, though many may give the nod to Fauria since he’s established on the team.
Wright was once a talented up and comer who was really expected to make waves in fantasy leagues when he first broke into the NFL. At this point, he’s had his chances with the Patriots and before that, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so he’s no longer on the radar in most minds.
Fantasy owners would be hard pressed to find a reason to spot start either one of the Lions’ tight end options unless one of them really gets hot. That said, it’s a development worth watching in leagues that may provide an extra incentive for touchdowns. Both Fauria and Wright would be red zone targets for Detroit.
