Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (knee) is listed as doubtful for the team’s Week 1 game against the San Diego Chargers. Charles has been limited in practice all training camp as he returns slowly from a torn ACL. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that it would be a “stretch for Charles to play” in the team opener, according to Chiefs reporter BJ Kissel. It is highly unlikely Charles will suit up this Sunday.
Fantasy Impact: The Chiefs are bringing Charles back slowly from ACL surgery in October. The nine-year RB, now 29, is returning from the second ACL tear of his career. The Chiefs seem to be committed to getting their premier back to full strength before putting him back on the field. Owners should expect Charles to be week-to-week early on this season.
