Jones suffered a sprained shoulder in the second preseason game that kept him out for the rest of August. He returned to practice last week and got in full sessions, making him certain to play despite being listed as questionable on the injury report.
Jones will get a chance to replace Alfred Morris as the starter after the latter left in free agency. Last year’s third-round pick rushed for 490 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie, though he also lost four fumbles.
Fantasy impact: Jones should receive the majority of carries in Washington’s backfield, but he could lose carries if the ball security issues crop up again. Washington has talented backups in Chris Thompson and Rob Kelley, so this has the potential of a full-blown committee if Jones doesn’t seize the opportunity. Jones is a high-floor RB2 in standard fantasy leagues, but he’s not without his risks.
