The Pittsburgh Steelers got some strong play from old man Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, but they had to be a little envious of the Jets, who signed Justin Fields after the Steelers had him rostered last year. What we saw from Fields was tremendous against a Steelers defense that on paper should have had a better game against their old teammate.

Fields, as expected, din’t throw the ball a lot, but when he did, he made it count. On the day he completed 16-of-22 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown, while his true fantasy upside came out with his 12 rushing attempts for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Pro Football Focus graded Fields as the second-best passer in Week 1. The first best was Josh Allen, who the Jets will host in Week 2.

The Bills come into MetLife Stadium as 6.5-point favorites after coming back to win against the Ravens. Lamar Jackson had similar numbers to Fields, as he also didn’t throw much, but was accurate and rushed for a touchdown. We also saw Derrick Henry go through their defense like a hot knife through butter. There’s no doubt that Breece Hall’s strong game against the Steelers helped Fields and his blockers and if they can get the running game going against the Bills, Fields would be set up for another efficient day.

Below, we’ll go over Justin Fields outlook in fantasy football for Week 1.

Fantasy Football analysis: Jets, QB, Justin Fields

Fields is just too consistently good as a runner and fantasy player. We know he can have an awful passing day and still have a strong floor if he rushes for 50 yards and a touchdown. We can’t expect him to be consistent as a passer, but he sure is off to a good start and has proved he can get the job done against a good defense,

Start or sit in Week 2 PPR leagues?

Start. If you sat Fields against the Steelers last week you’re probably kicking yourself. The only thing to do know is not double down on your mistake and start him this week.
