On Thursday Formula 1 confirmed the locations for the Sprint Races for the 2025 campaign.

As with the 2024 season, there will be six F1 Sprint Races, and five of the sites will carry over from this current season into the next campaign.

However, one change brings the F1 Sprint format to one of the sport’s most iconic circuits.

The first F1 Sprint Race next season will come at the Chinese Grand Prix, which hosted an F1 Sprint Race this season as the grid returned to China for the first time since COVID-19. Then the grid will participate in the F1 Sprint format at the Miami Grand Prix as was the case this season. Daniel Ricciardo put in a tremendous performance in both qualifying for the F1 Sprint Race at the Miami Grand Prix, and then in the F1 Sprint Race itself, starting — and finishing — fourth.

However, the next F1 Sprint Race on the calendar in 2025 will not be the Austrian Grand Prix, but instead the Belgian Grand Prix. Next year Spa will host an F1 Sprint Race, followed by The United States Grand Prix, the São Paulo Grand Prix, and the Qatar Grand Prix. Those latter three circuit will host F1 Sprint Races this year as well.

“The Sprint has been a great success for Formula 1, bringing all our fans more action and racing on the track. We are seeing the proof of this in our audience data, fan attendance on Fridays and from the promoters and partners,” said Stefano Domenicali, the President and CEO of Formula 1, in the announcement. “As we prepare to celebrate our 75th anniversary in 2025 we will always honour our incredible history, but we must always be looking ahead, innovating, and improving to deliver the best for our growing and diverse fanbase.

“The Sprint is a great example of bringing new elements to our sport in a way that is respectful of the Championship, and I want to thank the six venues that will host the Sprint in 2025 and look forward to those incredible events throughout the season.”
