The 2025 Formula 1 season begins in just under two weeks, with the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. While the Bahrain Grand Prix has in recent seasons served as the first race on the schedule, with Ramadan taking place in March F1 has shifted races scheduled in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to later in the season, opting to begin the schedule in Melbourne.

For many fans, however, the season begins with the newest season of the Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive. The streaming giant’s look behind the scenes of one of the fastest sports on the planet has propelled F1 to new levels of popularity and helped jumpstart the sport’s growth here in the United States. Since the release of the series in 2019 F1 has added two races in America, first the Miami Grand Prix which debuted in 2022, and then the Las Vegas Grand Prix which began in 2023.

Season 7 of Drive to Survive is just around the corner, and here is everything you need to know.

When does Season 7 of Drive to Survive premier?

Season 7 of Drive to Survive drops on Friday, March 7, one week ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. A week later the entire grid will be in Melbourne to begin the year, with qualifying set for Saturday, March 15 and the Australian Grand Prix slated for Sunday, March 16.

You can stream Drive to Survive exclusively on Netflix.

All ten episodes of Season 7 will be released on March 7.

What are the major storylines to watch for in Season 7?

The 2024 F1 season was one of the more thrilling campaigns in recent memory. The major focus on-the-track will be the dual title fights that played out between McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull for the F1 Constructors’ Championship, as well as the clash between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris for the Drivers’ title.

However, those two battles are just part of the story of the 2024 F1 season.

The year began with the news that Lewis Hamilton, after winning seven Drivers titles with Mercedes, was leaving the Silver Arrows to drive for Ferrari starting in 2025. That is how the season opens, along with the allegations of misconduct levied against Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner (more on the specific list of episodes in a moment).

Other major storylines to follow will be Carlos Sainz Jr.’s decision regarding where to drive in 2025 after Hamilton’s decision bumped him from a seat at Ferrari, Daniel Ricciardo’s tenure at VCARB coming to a close at the Singapore Grand Prix, the increasing pressure on Sergio Pérez at Red Bull, Charles Leclerc finally tasting a win in the Monaco Grand Prix, and the fight for sixth in the Constructors’ Championship between Haas and Alpine.

In addition, Netflix is trying something new with Episode 7 of this season. Set at the Singapore Grand Prix, Episode 7 will feature five drivers and their own behind-the-scenes footage of the race weekend.

Given that Ricciardo was one of those drivers, and it was his final race, this might be a highlight of the season.

The Season 7 trailer

Last week Netflix released the trailer for Season 7 of Drive to Survive, which highlights several of the major storylines from the 2024 F1 season:

Season 7 episode list

Ahead of Season 7, Netflix has released the episode title and a brief synopsis of all ten episodes.

Episode 1: Business as Usual

Ahead of the new season, the drama has already begun. Lewis Hamilton makes a drastic decision — which is almost overshadowed by a shocking allegation.

Episode 2: Frenemies

Lando Norris has spent his career coming second to Max Verstappen. Can this be the year he overtakes his friend and makes a bid for the Championship?

Episode 3: Looking Out for Number 1

Without Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes has a seat to fill for 2025. George Russell thinks he’s ready to step up to lead driver — but does Toto Wolff agree?

Episode 4: Carlos Signs

Dropped from Ferrari, Carlos Sainz has a big decision to make for next season. As two teams vie for his attention, he gets a call from an old friend.

Episode 5: Le Curse of Leclerc

It’s the Monaco Grand Prix, and all eyes are on Charles Leclerc. With his country’s hopes hanging on his shoulders, the pressure starts to get to him.

Episode 6: Wheels of Fortune

The Constructors’ Championship is within McLaren’s grasp. The car is performing, the drivers are excelling — but their strategy might hold them back.

Episode 7: In the Heat of the Night

Five of Formula 1’s most famous drivers — and lifelong friends — film their behind-the-scenes experiences of the brutal Singapore Grand Prix.

Episode 8: Elbows Out

After a record-breaking 2023, Red Bull has a lot to live up to. With one driver slowing the team down, veterans and newcomers alike battle for his seat.

Episode 9: Under New Management

Haas has a new principal. Alpine has welcomed back a legend of the sport. Between them, the rivals are locked in a battle worth millions of dollars.

Episode 10: End Game

As the season nears its climax, the outcome hangs on a knife edge. Can underdog McLaren stand a chance against the powerhouses of Ferrari and Red Bull?
