The Europeans are already showing how much the Ryder Cup means to them

It has been forever since a Ryder Cup was won by the visiting team

It is officially Ryder Cup week.

Nothing puts the world of golf on display like this event. It is rich in history, pageantry, elegance, and at the same time ferocious intensity. It stands alone relative to anything else that golf can offer.

As action gets set to begin at Bethpage Black the United States team is clearly looking to defend home turf, something they have been able to do for a long time now. The Ryder Cup has sort of become an event that is predictable with regards to the home team winning, but that hasn’t stopped the Europeans from believing they can put an end to that run.

On Tuesday morning the European squad released a video noting how much an away win would mean to them. Even if you are rooting for the Americans, I know I am, you have to admit this is epic.

The last time that an away team won a Ryder Cup was when the Europeans themselves did so at Medinah in 2012. As this video does an incredible job of noting there are 37 individual European players who have been a part of away wins in Ryder Cup history, a list they are looking to grow this week in New York.

An American win this week would obviously not qualify as an away win, but the U.S. will have a change to pick up a road victory for the first time since 1993 when the tournament heads to Adare Manor.

The Americans are hoping that, like the Europeans are now, they are defending champions at that point in time.
