Things got off to quite the start at Bethpage Black.

Keegan Bradley’s United States team struggled mightily and ultimately were out-classed by Luke Donald’s Europeans. Following the morning’s foursomes Team Europe leads the 2025 Ryder Cup by a score of 3-1. The day is only halfway over though and four-ball matches are up next.

Bradley is sending out Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, and Patrick Cantlay once more. They are joined, respectively, by J.J. Spaun, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, and Sam Burns.

On the Rueopean side Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, and Rory McIlroy will all hit the course once more. Their playing partners, once again respectively, will be Sepp Straka, Justin Rose, Rasmus Hojgaard, and Shane Lowry.

It feels dramatic to say this is a cup-defining window for the Americans, but as they begin it in a 3-1 hole they are going to have to at least square things up given that they need 14.5 points before the weekend is over.

Buckle up.
