Golf fans all over the world are all sorts of excited about the future of the LPGA.

Consider that 2026 will bring a season in which every round for the Tour will be broadcasted live for the first time. This is a massive and significant development for obvious reasons. Fans have been clamoring for the LPGA Tour to find a way to grow and develop its stars, and it appears that this is finally happening (shout out to new Commissioner Craig Kessler).

This is something that everyone can see, including people who helped the LPGA reach this point. One of the people most responsible for the Tour’s growth over time is Michelle Wie West and she was kind enough to join SB Nation for a chat about the world of golf at large… and dogs!

As noted Michelle joined in advance of North America’s largest dog show, the AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin. Royal Canin helps to keep her dogs well-fed and is helping to ensure that the AKC National Championship is a wonderful product itself, one Michelle is excited to watch.

“Gatsby and Daisy, my English Sheepdogs, and Rome, my Cane Corso, have been by my side through so many important moments in my life. They’re my true MVPs—always giving me their best, so I want to give them what they need to thrive. That’s why partnering with Royal Canin is an easy choice,” said LPGA Icon and Major Champion, Michelle Wie West. “I’m honored to be celebrating the AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin by honoring the incredible dogs in my life.”

The 2025 AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin will air Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, from 12 – 3 p.m. ET on ABC. New this year is Royal Canin’s Breederboard. The interactive digital experience allows broadcast viewers to vote for their breed MVP based on this year’s show.

2026 presents a huge opportunity for the LPGA to step into an ever-growing world for consumption of women’s sports, a point Michelle also touched on. It is going to be fascinating to see how the Tour helps elevate everyone around them in their effort to do so.
