We are nearing the end of the calendar year and that means that soon enough serious PGA Tour golf will be back in our lives (we have to wait a bit into January, but you get the point).

Thankfully golf is in such a place these days that we are treated to a lot of alternate-style events all of the time. Black Friday brought a revitalized version of The Skins Game where Keegan Bradley emerged victorious and next week will bring with it the Optum Golf Channel Games.

The games in question are airing on Golf Channel and USA Network on Wednesday, December 17th from 7-11pm ET. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are serving as the two team captains. This year’s two Ryder Cup captains in Luke Donald (the back to back winning Ryder Cup Captain, by the way) and Keegan Bradley will be ap art of the mix. It is going to be a ton of fun.

Obviously a ton of eyes will be on McIlroy and Scheffler as they won three of the year’s major championships between them. Rory completed the career grand slam by winning the Masters, but Scottie is now one major away following PGA Championship and Open Championship victories.

Scheffler’s longtime physical trainer, Dr. Troy Van Biezen, has helped Scottie in his path to greatness and offers a training program in GolfForever that helps player soptimize their strength, flexibility, mobility and balance. You can take your own assessment for your own purposes here.

All of those skills from Scottie will be on display next week at the games. Surely Rory will want to finish the year off with another win and one against him will set the stage for a fun 2026 between the two.
