TGL kicked off its second season last week and did so with a thrilling matchup between Atlanta Drive GC and New York Golf Club that Billy Horschel (of course) slammed the door shut on.

Friday evening’s match (7pm ET on ESPN2 and the ESPN app) is between Boston Common Golf and Los Angeles Golf Club which is notable for several reasons, but chief among them is the reigning Masters Champion and the newest member of the Career Grand Slam club.

Rory McIlroy will indeed be playing in his first TGL match since finally winning the Masters and it would make sense for this to be a talking point among players throughout the competition. Something else that will likely pop up is chatter between Rory and his teammate Keegan Bradley related to the most recent Ryder Cup. Oh, and their team did not win a single match during the inaugural season of TGL. Again, this particular match has a lot going on.

Rory’s European teammate, and European leader at that, Justin Rose will lead the Los Angeles side of things with Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala rounding out their squad. For what it’s worth Michael Thorbjornsen will round out the Boston Common team as Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama are out this week.

It should be a fun one.
