Monday was a seismic day in professional golf as news broke that Brooks Koepka is returning to the PGA Tour. There are some details involved that you may want to familiarize yourself with, but the point is that he is back and we can expect to see him at the end of the month at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open.

Brooks’ return to the PGA Tour is one of the more significant blows that LIV Golf, where Brooks has been in his time away from the Tour, particularly because Monday’s news offered a path for some of their other stars to return in Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Cam Smith.

LIV Golf released a statement in response to it all.

The statement doesn’t address Koepka or the PGA Tour’s “Returning Member Program” that makes all of this possible, it speaks to the matter in an indirect way.

LIV also indirectly (seemingly) took issue with the statement that the PGA Tour released back in December when it was announced that Koepka was leaving LIV Golf. The language mirroring what the PGA Tour said was caught by many on social media.

It had been a while since we saw a back and forth like this between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

What will happen next? Monday is proof that we have no idea.
