Scottie Scheffler… still really good at golf!

The world number one birdied his first hole on Thursday at the American Express and kept his foot on the gas for the most part as the day unfolded.

All told Scottie went 9-under on Thursday, his first official round of the PGA Tour season, and as much as this will shock you… he is very much in contention to win this thing when action wraps on Sunday evening.

Much has been made about how Scheffler missed the opening events of last season as he was recovering from a hand injury. That didn’t seem to derail his 2025 form at all as he won both the PGA Championship and Open Championship before the season was all said and done.

Could he possibly outdo himself this year? Again? He has sort of become known for doing that sort of exact thing.

Let’s see what Friday has in store first.
