Rory McIlroy seems intent to give it a go.

It was reported on Monday that the reigning Players Champion was seemingly a bit of a question mark for this year’s playing of the event. McIlroy withdrew on Saturday from the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and it was noted that he would be arriving in Ponte Vedra on Wednesday, the eve of this week’s event.

Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis reported on Tuesday that Rory will “determine his status” on Wednesday.

It goes without saying that this is an important week for Rory. Heck, he is beginning an important month.

McIlroy is the defending champion at both TPC Sawgrass and, for the first time in his life, at the Masters. Putting together proper defenses would be a great thing for him.

For what it’s worth Harry Diamond was around Sawgrass on Tuesday, obviously if Rory is able to go.

It goes without saying that this will be one of the most important stories to watch in the coming days.
