Gary Woodland won the Texas Children’s Houston Open on Sunday. It was a remarkable story that is going to have a lasting impact well beyond the sport of golf. We all understand this.

As far as the golf is concerned though, it was an absolute clinic from Woodland. He cleared the field by five strokes which wound up as the second-most dominant win (from a strokes perspective) that we have seen so far this season.

The most dominant win to date came by way of Justin Rose at the Farmers Insurance Open when the Englishman put 7 between him and the next-best finisher.

This means that the most dominant wins we have seen so far this season came from two elder statesmen, namely two players over the age of 40. Who said the PGA Tour was a young man’s game?

Interestingly, the duo in question comprised the final pairing during the final round of the U.S. Open in 2019 at Pebble Beach. Woodland famously won it for his lone major championship to date.

Sometimes life comes full circle in the funniest sort of ways.
