The Masters Tournament was incredible last week what with Rory McIlroy defending his title, but the PGA Tour is back in action with the RBC Heritage taking place at Hilton Head in South Carolina.

The RBC Heritage is one of the PGA Tour’s Signature Events so you can expect to see a lot of big names in attendance. World number one Scottie Scheffler is in the field and so is defending champion Justin Thomas.

Here is a bit of what’s going on with some of the players of note.

Justin Thomas can make history

JT won this event last year on the first hole of a playoff with Andrew Novak. He has a history of success at Harbour Town what with three top 10 finishes and obviously the win last year.

Here’s the thing. Rory McIlroy has everybody thinking about title defenses all of a sudden, and nobody has defended at the RBC Heritage since Boo Weekley did in 2008. Thomas can join that club this week.

Scottie Scheffler is also a past winner

Thomas is (obviously) not the only plaid jacket-winning member of this week’s field. Scottie Scheffler is making his fourth start in the event and won it all in 2024 right after winning the Masters for a second time himself.

Scheffler is already a winner on Tour this season as he was victorious at the American Express a few months back. That was his 20th career victory and while much was made about Rory’s win at the Masters specifically, it was McIlroy’s 30th overall win… another record for Scheffler to chase that he could come closer to with a win.

Don’t forget Cameron Young is the current FedExCup leader

Scottie Scheffler wound up finishing in second place in Augusta, but it was Cameron Young who comprised the final pairing alongside Rory McIlroy. Young, the Players Champion, is the current FedExCup leader and is certainly looking to continue his own incredible form.

This is Young’s fifth start at the RBC Heritage and interestingly his best finish was his first outing in 2022 (T3). Since then he has gone T51, T62, and T54. Odds are he will fare better this week.

Max Homa is looking to keep momentum going

Among those who stood out during the Masters was a fan favorite in Max Homa. Last week marked the third straight top 12 that Homa has had in Augusta, but it marked his first top 10 finish of the season and first overall since the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship.

It is great to see Homa playing well and perhaps that was the start of things picking up steam. This is a great opportunity for him to ride that momentum forward and against some serious competition.
