It is PGA Championship week and Aronimink is center stage for the second major of the season.

Rory McIlroy defended his Masters title at the first and is one of the most important people in the world of golf. When Rory speaks people listen and this is why his thoughts on the course setup this week caught people’s attention on Tuesday morning.

Rory said rather bluntly that there is no real strategy required off the tee this week. This speaks to the rollback argument that people have been making for years at this point. If you aren’t required to have strategy off of the tee in a major championship… this is sort of a huge problem.

It will be interesting to see how the field, contenders, and ultimately the winner fare off of the tee this week in Philadelphia. Should they be able to recover from errant shots that are purely about distance then it will only serve to feed Rory’s point and the rollback argument at large.
