John Smoltz is committing to his putter for the ACC
John Smoltz is making a commitment on the golf course
Just ask John Smoltz. The baseball legend is one of the better players who tees it up in the American Century Championship out in Lake Tahoe every year, and while he has a few silver medals to his name he wants to take home the trophy.
Smoltz joined SB Nation for a chat this week in advance of the ACC and when asked what he is going to do to make sure that he can finally win it all… he brought up one specific club.
John noted that he has been prone to changing putters throughout the course of his life on the course and that this time he is sticking with one. He’s done with pars and wants to score.
Tournament prize money for the ACC is up to $750,000 total with a $150,000 first prize, but importantly the tournament has at the same time raised over $8 million for regional and national charities. American Century Investments donates 40% of its dividends to the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and activates fundraising at tournament to drive direct donations to Stowers each year. Fans can watch the ACC on NBC or Peacock from July 10th through 12.
