Shark Shootout: Graeme McDowell Will Be Paired With Countryman Darren Clarke

The 22nd annual Shark Shootout, hosted by Greg Norman, begins Friday morning. Jerry Kelly and Steve Stricker are the defending champions.

Greg Norman will host the 22nd annual Shark Shootout at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Fla., beginning on Friday. The Shootout is a three-day golf tournament consisting of a first day modified alternate shot, second day better ball and a final day scramble. First-round play begins at 9:55 a.m. on Friday.

Players headlining the field include host Norman, Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar, among others. The 24-person field, which includes 10 players who participated in the most recent Ryder Cup, will be split into 12 two-man teams.

Notable pairings include:

- Jerry Kelly and Stricker, the defending champions who are both natives of Madison, Wis.

- Johnson and Poulter, the cumulative highest world-ranked team (13th and 14th in the Official World Golf Rankings).

- McDowell, who is fresh off his defeat of Tiger Woods last week at the Chevon World Challenge, is matched with countryman Darren Clarke; both hail from Northern Ireland.

- Norman will tee off at 10:43 a.m. with Kuchar, who was the top earner on the PGA Tour this season.

K.J. Choi, Darren Clarke, Jason Day, Jeff Overton and Mike Weir are making their first appearance in Norman’s tournament this year.
