It took Mark Wilson 35 holes to realize that he hadn’t made a bogey all of Sunday at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The golfer was facing a 12-foot par putt on the 17th green with just a one shot lead.

“I thought about that before I hit the putt,” Wilson told reporters after the round. “I haven’t made a bogey all day, so why start now? It entered my mind, but when I was over the putt, I didn’t think about it.”

Wilson sank the putt and went on to make an unneeded birdie on the 18th to seal a two-shot victory at the Sony Open after a forced 36-hole Sunday due to rain. It was the third PGA Tour win of his career, and the first since the Mayakoba Golf Classic in March 2009.

Breathing down Wilson’s neck was Tim Clark, who who finished in a tie for second place. Clark shot one of the two low rounds of the day with a 64 and played Sunday 10-under. Steve Marino, who also tied for second at 14-under, nearly made an eagle on the par-5 18th which would have forced a playoff had Wilson not made a birdie putt.
