Farmers Insurance Open: Tiger Woods Finishes Round 2 At 3-Under, Sits At 12th On Leaderboard

On Friday, noted golf enthusiast Tiger Woods overcame some early troubles in the back nine at Torrey Pines to move up the Farmers Insurance Open leaderboard. Woods penciled four consecutive birdies in the front nine, but then bogeyed the 11th, 14th, and 15th holes. He recovered with birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to finish at 3-under for Round 2.

This puts Woods at 6-under for the tournament, which was good for a tie for 12th place entering the clubhouse. A handful of golfers were still on the course after Woods’ day was done. On the leaderboard, he’s looking up at Bill Haas, who is five strokes ahead of Woods with an 11-under score.

Woods has 71 career PGA Tour wins to his name, but has not won a PGA event since the BMW Championship in September of 2009. Prior to his slump, he regular dominated the Farmers Insurance Open, having set the tournament record with a 22-under in 1999, and winning the event in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
