Phil Mickelson has been elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame, picking up 72 percent of votes cast for the honor this year. Mickelson, a three-time winner of The Masters and one-time winner of the PGA Championship, became eligible for the Hall of Fame after turning 40-years-old last year. Mickelson won one tournament this past PGA Tour season and has won a total of 39 tournaments in his career, good for tenth all time. With one more tournament win, he will pass fellow Hall of Famers Tom Watson and Gene Sarazen.

Phil Mickelson, a 39-time winner on the PGA Tour and a four-time major champion, has been elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Mickelson won his first tournament in 1991, as a 20-year-old amateur. His first professional win was at the Buick Open of California in 1993. He was widely regarded as the greatest player to never win a major tournament before he won his first of four, the 2004 Masters.
Mickelson is playing in the Singapore Open, a PGA European Tour and PGA Asian Tour event.
