Chevron World Challenge 2011 Leaderboard Update: Tiger Woods Second After First Round

The good news for Tiger Woods: He turned in a solid opening round at the Chevron World Challenge and finds himself in second-place. The bad news for Tiger Woods: K.J. Choi turned in a spectacular opening round and leads the field by a healthy margin.

Woods carded a 3-under 69 at Sherwood Country Club on Thursday, good enough for a share of second-place. He’s joined by Steve Stricker, who also completed his round at 3-under. But the two are three shots back of Choi, who turned in a round of 66 to take the early lead at the exclusive event.

Just six players finished under par on Thursday, with Nick Watney, Jim Furyk and Rickie Fowler all at 1-under and in a tie for fourth. The even features just 18 players, all of which are among the world’s elite.
