Arnold Palmer Invitational 2011 Leaderboard: Martin Laird Leads, Tiger Woods Vaults Into Top 10

On Thursday, Round 2 of the Arnold Palmer Invitational concluded in Orlando. Scotland’s Martin Laird took the lead, while Tiger Woods managed to climb his way into a tie for 10th on the leaderboard.

Laird, who started the day on the back nine, shot to the top of the leaderboard after an eagle on the 16th hole. A bogey on the first hole was the only mistake he made during a round in which he shot 7-under. Laird, age 28, has one PGA Tour win on his resume.

Tiger Woods, meanwhile, bounced back from a disappointing 1-over first round. Woods, a noted golf enthusiast, also started on the back nine, and shot 4-under on the day. He now sits in a tie for 10th place and six strokes off the lead.

The best round, however, was had by K.J. Choi. Like Laird, Choi managed an eagle on the 16th hole, and after an 8-under day he now stands only one stroke behind the lead.

Here is how the top of the leaderboard looks entering Saturday’s action.

1. Martin Laird (-9)
T2. Spencer Levin (-8)
T2. K.J. Choi
T4. Steve Marino (-6)
T4. Charles Howell III
T4. Hunter Mahan
T4. Vaughn Taylor
T8. Rickie Fowler (-4)
T8. Jason Dufner
10. Seven tied (-3)
